The University of Chicago\'s Department of Pediatrics, Section of Critical Care Medicine, seeks a full-time Assistant Professor who will provide expertise in clinical informatics, and coverage for the Comer Children\'s Hospital PICU and Sedation Services. Appointees will facilitate the integration of clinical practice with data and information systems to improve the quality of patient care. Additionally, appointees will be responsible for application building and support of clinical solutions for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other clinical systems. Other duties include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications.

The Section of Pediatric Critical Care has 16 full-time faculty members, a fully accredited fellowship program, and a 30 bed PICU. The Section also runs the Pediatric Sedation and Palliative Care Services. Faculty members are actively involved in research, quality improvement, and medical education initiatives. The PICU has approximately 1600 annual admissions with continued annual increase in volume over the past 5 years. We are the only level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the South Side of Chicago and the hospital is designated a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a national honor that recognizes nursing excellence. Additionally, we are an ELSO Center of Excellence at the Gold Level.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, 2) be BC/BE in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and 3) be eligible for permanent medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
