About the Department
The Department of Radiology includes more than 80 full-time faculty members, clinical associates, advanced practice providers, and postdoctoral researchers. A tradition of excellence in patient care, basic, clinical, and translational sciences, combined with the strengths of one of the world\'s top academic institutions provides the foundation for a robust career in the University of Chicago Medical System. The University of Chicago Medicine is a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Care Center, and a referral center for numerous neurologic and otolaryngologic disorders.
Job Summary
The job uses best practices and knowledge of patients and exercises autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, initiation of delegated medical treatments, and performance of image guided procedures independently and/or with supervision. The scope of practice includes image guided procedures, inpatient rounding, outpatient clinics, family support, discharge planning, staff education, consultation and research.
Responsibilities
- Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
- Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
- Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.
- Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
- Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
- Actively participates in program building, and quality measurement and improvement measures.
- Designs patient education programs that include information required to make informed health care and treatment decisions.
- Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account the benefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family and the organization.
- Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient\'s plan of care.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through a combination of education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.

Certifications:
Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration required. Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO). - State of Illinois

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Advanced degree (or equivalent, if license received prior to July 1, 2001) from an accredited school/college of nursing or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA).
Experience:
- Experience in a procedural environment and/or performing procedures would be a benefit.

- Ability to interview and obtain medical information.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
