The Walsh Group Construction Crane Superintendent in Chicago, Illinois

Overview

Walsh is currently seeking a Crane Superintendent in Chicago, IL.

The Crane Superintendent isresponsible for overseeing the assembly, disassembly, service, and repair of all cranes in the fleet. Including RT’s, Telecrawlers, Crawler Cranes, and Tower Cranes. This position will report closely to an Equipment Manager. Will require being self-motivated while either working at the Equipment Division or in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Fully responsible for building a team.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally

  • Reads, understands and follows advanced hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical diagrams

  • Has a thorough knowledge of construction crane equipment and proper working function

  • Fully and neatly prepares for major repairs including parts ordered

  • Responsible for coordinating and prioritizing job site repairs and maintenance thru the Service Manager

  • Responsible for systematically modifying / upgrading all crane systems

  • Fully responsible for performing thorough and accurate inspections and testing of cranes

  • Travel to various job sites throughout the United States

Crane Mechanic Team Professional Functions:

  • Oversees the technician team assembling, disassembling, and repair activities.

  • Overseas the crane repairs with items obtained from stock, and ordering the production of a replacement part

  • Overseas a team that performs tasks independently

  • Authorized to be firm and decisive when decisions need to be made regarding equipment repairs and maintenance but required to be polite and understanding when dealing with co-workers or partners

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years of construction heavy crane experience

  • History of working with different forms of crane equipment (Grove, Linkbelt, Manitowoc, Liebherr)

  • The ability to read schematics (both electrical and hydraulic)

  • Knowledge of OSHA and BHL standards and safety regulations

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Must be able to work in the United States

  • High School or Equivalent (preferred)

  • Salary Range: $111,000 - $166,000/Yr.

Schedule Overview:

  • Balances the work load between the crane preparation in the Chicago Equipment Shop and the needs at the jobsites.

  • Travel – is required to travel to national jobsites to solve complex crane events.

  • Weekends – as work load requires. Periodic weekends should be expected.
