Job Description
Brookfield Properties has an immediate In-Office opening for a HR Business Partner at our Chicago office.
Position Summary
The HR Business Partner will be responsible for providing strategic HR Consulting to an assigned group departments or regions within the organization. The HRBP will align HR strategies to the business key objectives to help leadership drive organizational effectiveness by providing guidance for leaders and employees in a variety of areas including metrics driven analysis, workforce planning, talent development, employee relations, performance management, compensation management, training, policy & regulatory compliance, benefits and recruiting. The HRBP must be able to cultivate, build and maintain strong working relationships with the internal HR team and assigned business leaders to collaborate on department or team initiatives.
Responsibilities
Partner with functional leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that support the business objectives and enable performance and operational success
Provide change management consulting within the team to support the continual evolution of the business and organizational effectiveness
Identify, manage and respond to complex employee relations issues by coaching management and employees. Provide guidance on problem resolution, aligned with legal and organizational policies and regulations which includes but not limited to:
Coordination of reduction in staff
Manager and employee coaching
Facilitate union contract negotiation and renewal when necessary
Policy interpretation
Drive a consistent performance management process and support the development of manager capability to set clear performance goals, assesses performance and effectively give feedback to foster high performance.
Facilitate assigned talent development initiatives that align with the HR roadmap and emerging needs of the organization, including but not limited to new hire orientation and culture training
Provide talent management consulting through the identification of critical roles, talent assessment and succession planning. Partnering with Management, develop and ensure the execution of leadership development plans.
Manage the year-end base wage adjustment, bonus and promotion process including the communication plan and provide recommendations to respective leaders
Provide ongoing support and communication to ensure execution of key HR processes and policies including compensation, talent acquisition, workforce planning and organizational design.
Provide backup support for full cycle talent strategy, sourcing and recruitment, using the iCIMS system
Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance, foster a workplace environment consistent with the values and goals outlined by senior leadership, function as a trusted advisor through active listening and effective problem solving of employee issues.
Analyze HR metrics, identify themes and prepare recommendations to inform decisions around talent strategies
Mentor and provide guidance to HR Coordinators on various HR-related issues
Other assigned duties as needed
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
5+ years of Business Partner experience with a focus on HR strategy, Change Management, Talent Development and Employee Relations preferred
Strong interpersonal communication both verbally and written
Strong ability to coach and mentor others
Ability to adapt to change and face ongoing challenges
Ability to keep confidential employee and team information discrete
Ability to prioritize and organize work; attention to detail is critical
Proficient with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
