JPMorgan Chase Manager of Software Engineering - Pricing Reference Data in Chicago, Illinois

You will lead multiple teams located across US and India in delivering a firm-wide Reference Data product supporting high quality intraday, end of day pricing for150+ subscribing applications which span across all lines of business.

As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector's Pricing Reference Data Engineering group, you lead multiple teams and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team's work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and engineering best practices. This role is a combination of being a manager of software engineering, product partner, and a scaled scrum practitioner for a business critical pricing data platform.

The team is responsible for a business critical pricing function supporting essential services such as net asset valuation, front and back office trading, margin and settlement, credit and market risk management. It requires a leader that is not only able to ensure platform meets resiliency, scalability requirements but also is responsive to ongoing product enhancements.

Job responsibilities

  • Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities of a product engineering team of 30-35 global staff

  • Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration

  • Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements

  • Manages stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements while keeping end user relationships and user experience research results top of mind

  • Manages using scaled agile practices and have oversight of day-to-day implementation activities

  • Partners with platform architect, design leads, product and operations towards setting ongoing product objectives and backlog, roadmap planning and delivery execution

  • Applies strong delivery management skills including identifying risks, issues and dependencies and escalating & resolving them.

  • Anticipates dependencies or co-works with other teams to partner on delivery

  • Ensuring all work meets software control standards, business requirements, and engineering best practices.

  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.

  • Experience leading technology projects

  • Experience managing engineers, and working within scrum and/or scaled agile practices

  • Experience delivering technology products and capabilities

  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Advanced understanding of SRE and Dev-op methodologies such as CI/CD, Chaos Testing, along with Security Controls and supporting Internal/External Audits

  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems

  • Strong written, communication, and public speaking skills

  • Practical cloud native experience

  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working at code level

  • Scaled Agile certification

  • Cloud / container certifications (AWS and/or GAIA)

  • User experience design
