Robert Half Paralegal in Chicago, Illinois

Description

Robert Half is seeking a Paralegal to join a wonderful firm in Chicago, Illinois. This role will primarily involve providing support to attorneys in the field of Family Law, with a focus on preparing for various legal proceedings, including hearings, trials, and mediations. You will be expected to perform legal research, draft legal documents, manage the discovery process, and maintain a high degree of organization in managing electronic files.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and draft various legal documents, such as motions and petitions, in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Provide assistance to attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and mediations.

  • Conduct thorough legal research to support legal proceedings, formulate defenses, or initiate legal action.

  • Maintain, organize, and index files, ensuring all necessary closure documents are present.

  • Communicate directly with clients in a professional manner, addressing their needs and escalating urgent matters when necessary.

  • Manage and administer legal transactions, resolving procedural and administrative issues before they reach an attorney.

  • Oversee the discovery process, collaborate with clients to gather information/documents, and maintain an accurate compilation of all relevant documents.

  • Coordinate document production and maintain case calendars.

  • Assist in the preparation of settlements and/or separation agreements.

  • Utilize various software tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Case Management Software, LexisNexis, Microsoft Excel, and others to perform job functions efficiently.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Paralegal

  • Candidates must have litigation experience

  • The ability to handle the multiple responsibilities of case management and trial preparation in a fast-paced team environment and to be detail oriented

  • Familiarity with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel is required

  • Proofreading and editing skills a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are important
