Nuveen Investments Performance & GIPS Manager in Chicago, Illinois

The Investment Performance Team in Nuveen’s Global Investment Operations organization prepares performance calculations, reporting, GIPS compliant presentations, performance attribution, portfolio analytics and other related deliverables for Nuveen’s investment book of record. The data produced by the team is used by portfolio management, marketing, client service, compliance and other areas across the enterprise to inform investment decisions and strategy, support client retention efforts and promote new business growth.

The Performance Calculations, Reporting and GIPS Leader will be responsible for both the process and people in the Performance Team’s Calculations, Reporting and GIPS groups. A leadership position, this role will provide expertise to oversee and improve processes, represent the team in various project and stakeholder discussions, address escalations and develop team members.

The successful candidate will:

• Communicate effectively within the team as well as working groups, stakeholders and external partners

• Establish trusting relationships with colleagues and lead, motivate and coach team members

• Demonstrate mastery of investment performance analysis concepts including measurement techniques, application of the GIPS standards and industry best practices

• Be highly organized and adaptable to manage change in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Support team members in their career progressions, providing clear goals and feedback while creating opportunities for growth

• Identify areas of potential risk across the teams’ processes and implement pragmatic solutions, partnering with Technology Teams where appropriate

• Ensure policies, practices and procedures are compliant with Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) standards

• Oversee team workflows and resource allocation so all deliverables are completed accurately and on-time

• Identify and implement improvements to create scale and add value

• Build and maintain constructive working relationships with internal stakeholders

• Participate in cross-functional working groups and project teams as a subject matter expert

• Contribute to the team’s strategic vision and translate objectives into achievable action plans

• Create a productive, satisfying team environment consistent with Nuveen’s culture and ethics principles

• Act as an escalation point and achieve prompt resolution for complex challenges

• Navigate firm-wide resources to influence and accomplish desired results

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

Work Experience

  • 5+ Years Required; 7+ Years Preferred

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience in GIPS Standards implementation and compliance and/or performance calculation, reporting and analysis teams

  • In-depth knowledge of GIPS Standards implementation and compliance practices

  • In-depth knowledge of performance calculation, reporting and analysis processes

  • Preferred

  • Detailed knowledge of Eagle and/or FactSet performance calculation and reporting capabilities

  • Experience with performance attribution analysis in fixed income and equity models

  • Ability to build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships

  • Identify and implement process and technology improvements to increase scale and reduce risk

Anticipated Posting End Date:

Base Pay Range: $126,500/yr. - $183,300/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
