Summary Telework Eligibility: This position has been identified as being eligible for telework at the agency's discretion in accordance with established policies. As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement. This temporary promotion may be extended up to a total of 5 years or made permanent without further competition. Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will work directly with the United States Attorney (USA). Typical work assignments will include: Exercising control over the USA's calendar for all appointments, meetings, engagements, and conferences; Reviewing all outgoing correspondence prepared for the USA's signature, e.g., action documents, case files, legal documents, and reports; Screening telephone calls and visitors desiring to speak with the USA; Composing a variety of written material. Such material varies in subject and format, but typically requires drafting appropriate correspondence that reflects the USA's policies and special interests; Arranging conferences and meetings for the USA; and Providing the USA with information, feedback, opinions, suggestions and recommendations on various administrative matters and topics. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing a wide range of high-level secretarial and administrative support functions. Examples of specialized experience include managing the schedule, travel, commitments; reviewing and preparing correspondence; screening telephone calls and visitors of the executive; arranging high level meetings. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your Department of Justice component has notified you in writing that you are a surplus or displaced employee eligible for CTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your CTAP eligibility, 2) you apply under the instructions in this announcement, and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria.
