UL, LLC Senior Analyst, Compensation Accounting in Chicago, Illinois

Reporting to the Manager, Compensation Accounting, the Senior Analyst, Compensation Accounting is part of our growing Compensation Center of Excellence within the Technical Accounting function. The Senior Analyst supports the development, implementation and accounting for the Company’s global compensation programs. The Senior Analyst will partner cross-functionally with various departments within the organization to accomplish shared objectives.

  • Prepares monthly calculations and reconciliations related to the Company’s global compensation programs, including short and long-term incentives, pension and postretirement plans, and other employee benefits

  • Prepares accurate and reliable commentary and analysis with insight to drivers and trends that impact financial results

  • Assists with the development and implementation of compensation programs and collaborates with cross-functional groups, including Human Resources, FP&A and Corporate Accounting to accomplish shared objectives

  • Assists with maintaining compliance with US GAAP by providing accounting support on a variety of compensation-related subjects, as needed

  • Complies with related SOX policies and procedures

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in areas of responsibility

  • Participates in special projects, as required

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting required

  • US CPA strongly preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in global corporate accounting roles or public accounting is preferred. Multinational company experience strongly desired

  • Strong working knowledge of applicable areas of US GAAP. Relevant accounting experience in stock-based compensation, pensions, and other employee benefits topics is preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated as well as a collaborative team player

  • Must be highly organized, accurate and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage numerous deliverables simultaneously with a sense of urgency

  • Advanced Excel experience: familiarity with SmartView or other Excel add-in tools for querying ERP data is a plus. Experience with Oracle FCCS or Fidelity benefits is a plus

  • Experience with BI Reporting and/or building dashboards is a plus
