The Senior Associate, Data Science is responsible for supporting the development, deployment, and maintenance of analytics tools for the Data Engineering department. These tools address real-time and historical performance, provide underperformance alerts, and summarize relevant asset data for a variety of audiences including senior management.

The development of these tools and their associated platforms will be done in close collaboration with the IT department to ensure the systems and protocols are compatible with IT strategy and guidelines for the Company. Additionally, the Senior Associate, Data Science will collaborate closely with internal teams to incorporate the various performance analyses developed by cross-functional teams.

The ultimate goal of the Senior Associate, Data Science is to enhance the profitability of the portfolio scope of assets by identifying underperformance.

Responsibilities:

Active Development of Analytics Tools

  • Build and maintain analytics tools for data processing, report-building, and automation

  • Test and debug existing tools for compatibility and performance

  • Document and update code and tool specifications

System Specification

  • Design and implement infrastructure to support analytics tools

  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Solicit feedback from engineering, operations, and asset management teams

  • Enhance the utility of analytics tools based on feedback

New Asset Onboarding

  • Map metadata within the PI system for assets being brought online

  • Maintain database consistency across assets

Presentation & Reporting

  • Communicate with stakeholders on project status and challenges

  • Create and deliver reports and presentations

  • Share new ideas to improve existing workflows and processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with quantitative focus in mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, data science, operations research, or related areas

  • Minimum of 5 years’ data science work experience

  • Programming experience in Python and preferably SQL

  • Familiarity with basic electrical concepts (e.g. voltage, current, resistance, power, AC & DC circuits) preferred

  • Strong interest in renewable/clean energy systems

  • Strong knowledge of data science principles and methodologies (e.g. machine learning, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, time series analysis, data visualization).

  • Python programming (e.g. scripting, version control, optimization)

  • Query-based programming experience (e.g. SQL) preferred

  • Strong quantitative skills

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented

  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts

  • Commitment to process discipline, continuous improvement and business conduct

  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables

  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams

  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable

  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
