We are looking for a Building Automation Engineering Intern. This position will be based at our Chicago area branch located in Rolling Meadows, IL.

Internship Program Start Dates: May 19, June 2 and June 9, 2025.

What you will do as a Siemens Smart Infrastructure Automation Engineering Intern

  • Assists in routine drawings to suit engineering changes.

  • Aids in creating routine design layouts and detailed drawings of products.

  • Assists in compiling materials and specification sheets.

  • Assists with dimensions and annotates routine drawings

Responsibilities

  • Modifies AutoCAD drawings, sequences of operation, bills of materials and database to help generate quality engineering submittals. Creates and modifies graphics under the guidance of Design Engineers.

  • Prepares AutoCAD drawings and modifies sequence of operations as directed by Project/Design engineers. Makes modifications to AutoCAD drawings as directed by Project/Design engineers.

  • Extracts graphics from existing library database as shown by the Project/Design Engineers. Modifies and changes graphical layouts as described and laid out by engineers.

  • Assembles engineered submittal booklets for contractors/customers including AutoCAD drawings, sequence of operations, bill of materials list, riser diagrams, etc.

  • Provides copying support for the completion of booklets. Prepares project training manuals and owner’s manuals for on-site training to contractors and customers.

  • Monitors department office supplies and re-orders items as required. Delivers and/or picks-up office supplies when required. Coordinates and attends department engineering meetings.

  • Records meeting minutes. Maintains a submittal filing system, the AutoCAD filing system, and the engineering reference library. Contacts vendors to obtain updated information.

To apply for the Project Management Internship Program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Majors: Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial/System Engineering, Industrial Distribution, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment, Computer Science or Business Administration with a strong technical or engineering aptitude

  • Education: Current sophomore or junior undergraduate student pursing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

  • Earliest Graduation Date: August 2025

  • Availability: Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May-July or June - August)

  • Relocation: Must be willing and able to work at the location on-site and surrounding local area. There is no relocation or housing stipend for this program

  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company or school sponsorship. This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.

The hourly pay range for this position is $22 - $26 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
