What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading policies and procedures refresh efforts to minimize regulatory exposure.

  • Supporting CIBC’ s Control Framework to ensure compliance to regulatory, legislative, and operational requirements, including the efficient and effective management of deviation and deficiency remediation.

  • Participating in business, governance, and regulatory projects.

  • Gathering documentation for external regulatory exams when required.

  • Recommending process improvements for governance of control testing programs. Review control testing results and recommend self-assessment of deficiencies. As needed develop and present Reporting on the governance and controls environment.

  • Using automation and analytics, developing on-going technology risk reporting, monitoring key trends and defining metrics to regularly measure control effectives of technology.

  • Working with other leaders within CIBCs technology management and all lines of defense to timely address control gaps for large complex programs (e.g., cloud, API, third-party vendor oversight, data governance).

  • Influencing behaviors to reduce risk and foster a strong technology risk management culture.

  • Supporting internal and external audit remediation efforts and the development and sustainment of regulatory control mapping.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Project Management – Participate in business, governance and regulatory projects to identify risk and control issues. Consult on new initiatives from a risk and controls perspective. Develop high level requirements for control processes and gaps within projects and new initiatives. Analyze and/or develop changes to control processes or procedures. Support all activities for the execution of the Control Framework requirements. Support development of remediation action plans.

  • Partner with cross-functional business leaders and key functional areas such as Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit.

  • Recommend and implement ongoing enhancements to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Engage and collaborate in other group initiatives to resolve deficiencies in a timely manner.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate knowledge of and experience with technology and security risks/controls with an enterprise GRC system (e.g. Service Now).

  • You possess strong project management and organization skills to support Internal audits including information requests, and potential deficiency governance.

Expert interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and problem-solving skills, including effective engagement with all levels of the organization, including senior management, board of directors and regulators. Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of successfully leading Compliance teams.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $67,500- $80,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
