Northwest Florida Community Hospital Medical Assistant or LPN, Wound Healing Institute, Full Time in Chipley, Florida

Northwest Florida Community Hospital (NFCH), in Chipley, FL, is seeking a FT experienced, energetic and dedicated Medical Assistant or LPN to provide exceptional care for our patients in support with medical Providers and staff, in our Wound Care Institute!

General Summary:

A healthcare professional who works under the supervision of a licensed nurse practitioner, assisting with patient care by performing tasks like taking medical histories, conducting basic physical examinations, administering medications, educating patients, and coordinating care, all while operating within the scope of their specific training and state regulations.

Patient intake:

  • Gathering patient information including medical history, current medications, and chief complaints

  • Works collaboratively to provide quality patient care.

  • Assisting in patient assessment.

  • Referrals to the Registered Practitioner.

    Basic physical assessments:

  • Performing vital signs checks, height and weight measurements, and basic physical examinations as directed by the supervising NP

    Clinical documentation:

  • Accurately documenting patient encounters in electronic health records.

  • Recording patient's past medical history, current medications, allergies, and social history as dictated by the NP.

  • Noting findings from the NP's physical examination, including vital signs, observations, and test results.

  • Recording details of any procedures performed during the visit, including medications administered and instructions given.

  • Accessing and reviewing previous medical records to ensure accurate documentation.

  • Entering all collected information into the EHR system in a timely and organized manner.

  • Adhering to HIPAA regulations by protecting patient privacy and sensitive medical information.

  • Answering patient calls as directed by the supervising NP.

    Required skills and qualifications:

  • Excellent typing skills and proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.

  • Ability to listen attentively and accurately transcribe verbal information.

  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to multitask.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, NP, nurses and patients.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environment.

  • Ability to adapt to changing patient flow schedules.

  • Strong team building skills.
