Job Details Armed Security Supervisor (LT.) for Environmental Protection Agency $32.80 Hourly Rate Objective This position is under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. Armed Security Supervisors bear the rank of Lieutenant and are responsible for overseeing Armed Security Officers. Together, they are responsible for the protection, safeguarding and security of assets, personnel, customers and visitors to the federal facility. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Essential functions Be able to read and understand the English language to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to properly and clearly communicate in person or via electronic devices (telephone and radio) with co-workers and the general public.The ability to maintain a professional, tactful and courteous demeanor under stressful situations security personnel routinely encounter. Be able to compose in the English language precise short paragraphs, written reports, and other reports as necessary. Job Duties Patrol federal government premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates. Answer alarms and investigate disturbances. Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas. Protecting property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire and accidents. Investigating and writing reports on daily activities, accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations. Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property. Providing any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors following established procedures. Scheduling Security Officers for work, including adjustment of schedules and staffing in response to planned and unplanned absences. At the direction of the Project Manager, aiding in the preparation of personnel and timekeeping records and payroll. At the direction of the Project Manager, aiding in the administration of discipline. May perform other related duties as assigned by the Captain or Project Manager Candidate Qualifications: U.S. Citizen Must be at least 21 years of age Must be high school/GED graduate Must have prior armed security, law enforcement, or military experience Must have supervisory experience managing a security workforce Additional Eligibility Qualifications: The applicant is required to submit to pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.
