POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES This position is for entry level Electrical Engineers interested in a career in electrical power systems. The Electrical Engineer I plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. This individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Electrical Engineer I is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed- both externally and internally. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment. The successful candidate will also have a pragmatic and applied approach, while at the same time bringing a creative examination of customer needs and solutions. This person may also support the business development process, by contributing to proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: Working with Senior Electrical Engineers to learn and develop design skills. Assist with the design of one or more of the following: power distribution systems (primary requirement), size motor feeders and starters. Supports the design of building power and lighting systems. Includes the design of special systems, such as ground fault, lightning protection, emergency generator, UPS, etc. Assist in the preparation of engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet codes, standards, contracted scope of work, and to ensure application of Electrical Engineering Principles. Assist with performing voltage drop, short-circuit calculations, and arc fault analysis. Coordinates work with other departments and project team members as well as contractors. Provides technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines. Build up knowledge of Codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IBC, Life Safety Code, etc.). Provides technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Possesses a basic understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices, with strong electrical fundamentals knowledge or experience. Project experience and/or working knowledge of Process, Instrumentation & Controls through completed co-ops or internships Willingness to develop in-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE, etc.). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to assimilate a range of ideas, programs, or alternatives into a set of recommendations.
