Job Overview Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC), University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1938 and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects more than 100,000 units of blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. Hoxworth Blood Center: Saving Lives Close to Home. HBC is located within the College of Medicine and is the only Regional Blood Center owned and operated by a University in United States. The Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) Laboratory Coordinator in the Components Laboratory. The incumbent will coordinate the activities of the lab (i.e., perform and monitor studies and/or quality control/quality assurance). This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities. Essential Functions Manage supply inventory and quality control activity for a designated lab or unit. Develop daily lab/staffing schedules. Work with management to perform/arrange for maintenance contract on equipment and maintain accurate records. Maintain SOP manuals and/or initiate new procedures. Provide training to technician staff on equipment and proper techniques. Develop and maintain a database for all research customers, order requests, shipping and billing information, and monthly distribution spreadsheet to track revenues. Communicate appropriately to staff, donors, students, external departments and others as needed. Answer technical and medical questions when appropriate. Assign work; ensure proper workflow of the unit; act as lead worker. Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Associate's Degree in Biological Sciences or related field. Two (2) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
