Must obtain a certified technician certificate within one year of hire. All technicians must maintain registration and certification throughout their employment with the UC Health Pharmacy Department. || Minimum Required: No experience required. Preferred 1-2 years of equivalent experience1. PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY)

  • Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
  • Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication, or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
  1. Procures and distributes medication orders per prescriber request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Accepts new written, faxed, or electronic prescription orders from a prescriber or a prescriber's agent Enters information into and retrieves information from a database or patient profile Prepares and affixes medication labels Counts and pours dangerous drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist Prepares non-sterile compounds Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques while under supervision Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas accurately per established schedule
  2. Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in the pharmacy inventory Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications Restocks medication and IV dispensing areas within the pharmacy accurately within specified time periods Repackages bulk medications in unit-dose packages safely and accurately per established procedures using appropriate techniques

Contributes to the effective operation of the department Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately Generates reports, and pick lists as required Answers the telephone, identifying self and department; directs calls to appropriate personnel Answe
