Job Summary
The Asset Closure Group is seeking an experienced and qualified Project Manager to support design and construction projects for the closure and management of Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) impoundments, landfills, and related facilities including wastewater and groundwater management systems and treatment. The CCR Project Manager candidate will perform the pivotal role of effectively and efficiently working within a team for the study, planning, design, and construction of CCR projects across the Vistra coal-fired fleet in Illinois, Ohio, and Texas, emphasizing the imperative of adherence to safety, environmental regulations, economics, and the efficient management of the closure process.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Support the overall CCR closure program strategy for managing asset retirement obligation (ARO) budgets, schedules, and milestones.
Assist with the basis of design and implementation of the full project design process from concept to construction bid documents for a variety of related projects including heavy civil engineering earthwork, water treatment, and groundwater management.
Manage a wide array of technical suppliers including engineering consultants, groundwater scientists, surveyors, and construction contractors.
Provide construction management support for heavy civil engineering construction and water management/treatment projects.
Support project bidding and bid administration for engineering and construction project bidding.
Interface and provide frequent communication with Vistra plant personnel and management as well as with internal groups including Environmental, Legal, Dam Safety, Supply Chain, and Safety.
Assist with the completion and recordkeeping associate with regulatory-required CCR unit inspections for CCR impoundments and landfills. Plan to attend at a minimum the landfill annual inspections at each CCR landfill.
Provide technical review of documents, reports, and related correspondence to meet applicable federal and state regulatory requirements.
Travel to CCR project sites will be required on an as-needed basis to support the project-specific workload requirement and work being performed at that time.
Implementation of Vistra’s contractor safety program and commitment to the overall safety for each related project.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in managing various projects within the company, ensuring continuity of operations and compliance with regulatory standards.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
10 years of project management, engineering, construction or equivalent powerindustry experience, utilizing the responsibilities listed above.
Experience in environmental and heavy civil engineering and earthwork construction
Ability to manage multiple contract scopes
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience gained through college degree programs and/orcertifications is applicable to above skills
Key Metrics
The incumbent would utilize sound judgement and projectmanagement expertise to understand key deliverables in thecontract and interface directly with contractor on all contractneeds including working with the contractor to ensure the projectis on schedule and budget
The position will require the ability to manage and coordinatemultiple groups of the project from operations staff to themanagement team to ensure all deliverables are met
The incumbent manages multiple third party suppliers, contracts and resources to fulfill CCR project management requirements.
