T.O. Plastics Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift in Clearwater, Minnesota

Position Summary: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and the level of work being performed. They are not intended to be constructed, as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified: Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment. Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists. Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs. Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications. Lubricate or apply adhesives to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures. Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance. Remove hardened material from machine parts, using abrasives, power and hand tools, or other equipment. Replace or repair metal, wood, or other lining in machines, or in equipment compartments or containers. Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems. Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment. Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse in order to maintain machinery and work areas. Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be replenished. Measure, mix, prepare, and test chemical solutions used to clean or repair machinery and equipment. Read work orders to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance. Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information Replace, empty, or replenish machine and equipment containers such as gas tanks or boxes. Set up, operate, and adjust machine controls to regulate operations. Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies Safety is #1 at T.O. Promptly reports injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Makes regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement in safety. Essential Functions: Perform mechanical adjustments and repairs to production and support equipment. Troubleshoot electric circuits and electronic components. Keep equipment and work areas clean as part of Preventive Maintenance. Assist in new equipment design and development. Design and fabricate mechanical parts. Write and modify procedures and specifications. Develop, test and implement PLC programs and logic. Write change requests, computer system change requests, and requests for capital investments. Research and specify new equipment, sensors and parts to improve the process. Plan and implement projects to improve equipment productivity. Lockout/Tag-out authorized; performing lockout/tag-out according to the instructions for each individual piece of equipment as necessary. Use Maintenance Management software to organize and run daily functions of the department s needs. Organize the books, manuals, and documentation for easy and updated viewing. Organize the supplies, tools and parts to ensure adequate levels for production needs. Train and instruct areas of expertise, to ensure overall levels of readiness. Be aware of the needs of production and the ability to assist and step in as needed. Use customer relations skills to reflect a positive image upon the department. Education and/or Experience: A minimum of 2 years machine maintenance experience Must have a strong background in machine maintenance and troubleshooting. Knowledge of PLC s, servo controls and variable speed drives. Proficient using computers and MS Excel and word Good communication skills, both verbal and written A working knowledge f plastics processing, blow/injection molding and film extrusion High School diploma or equivalent Ability to read blueprints including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and construction drawings. Work Conditions/Travel: Work in production and warehouse environments with: Loud noises Extreme temperatures of heat and cold Dust and some flying small debris Travel between Clearwater and Otsego may be required Occasionally may need to pick up or drop off equipment or tools at third party vendors or repair shops Physical Aspects: Must be able to lift 70lbs at times Work in dirty environment at times Ability to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties Stand, bend, reach and work in hard to get at places with some dexterity at times Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
