Case Western Reserve University Applications Developer in Cleveland, Ohio

DUTIES: Designs and delivers high-quality, high-impact IT solutions in support of CWRU University Relations and Development (UR&D). Designs flexible application frameworks. Analyzes and improves performance of software programs and analyzes requirements for data exchange between application software and other CWRU systems. Determines viable alternatives and makes recommendations. Designs, specifies, and obtains consensus and implements solutions. Defines and scopes project for application solutions following project management standards. Contributes to strategic planning of applications and technology direction. Works with staff to ensure adherence to prevailing programming standard when performing analysis, writing documentation, and testing components. Works with business and operations personnel to ensure business requirements and system needs are met, including technical and operational documentation. Works with other developers and business systems analysts on detailed complex designs. Participates in software architecture and system level design. Serves as a resource to consultants and customers. Establishes project plans and project schedules per established standards. Reviews project deliverables for conformance to established standards. Develops best practices of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and software quality standards. Full-time telecommuting permitted but may be required to attend on site meetings periodically. Must live within normal commuting distance of Cleveland, OH. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Applied Statistics, or related field, and seven (7) years of experience as a Applications Developer, Delivery Module Lead, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or related role. Experience must include: Crystal Reports; PL/SQL, including packages, views, data loader, and Oracle functions; Application programming interfaces (API); Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) process; Supporting on- premises and cloud-based business applications; Software development lifecycle (SDLC); System design principles, methodologies, and tools in web-based environments; Database theory, design rules, and development practices; Data modeling; Data flow; Entity relationship analysis; Shell scripting; Linux; and Technical Project Management.
