PNC Communications Lead - Retail in Cleveland, Ohio

Position Overview

We currently are seeking a Communications Lead to join our Business Communications team in providing external communications support for PNC’s Retail Banking, Retail Lending, and Home Lending businesses.

This position is primarily based in a PNC location out of Pittsburgh, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Cleveland, OH, or Charlotte, NC. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at manager’s discretion.

PNC's Retail Banking, Retail Lending and Home Lending teams provide a great client experience through our branches, Customer Care Center, ATMs, operations and servicing teams, and online and mobile solutions. Retail employees support the financial needs of millions of individuals, families and small businesses, and foster lifelong banking relationships built on expert advice and financial solutions across deposits, payments, personal lending, credit card, wealth advisory and brokerage.

The Communications Lead is a member of the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team of approximately 300 professionals, and will advise and support the Retail Banking, Retail Lending and Home Lending businesses on critical communications trends, strategies and tactics in support of business objectives and needs. This individual plays a hands-on role in the design and execution of a results-oriented and holistic external strategic communications program that advances business reputation, broadens awareness, and increases the visibility across external stakeholder audiences. In addition, this individual will closely collaborate on internal communications, including Retail leadership communications.

What You'll Do:

• Support the implementation of a strategic and holistic communications plan to position PNC and its Retail Bank as an industry leader

• Offer communications counsel to business leaders, advise on current and future communications opportunities, and help prepare leaders for media interview and engagement

• Serve as a point of contact for national media relations, including proactive announcements, drafting and publishing news releases, and handling media inquiries

• Enhance public profile of business leaders and amplify business priorities by providing counsel on strategic use of social media

• Collaborate with Corporate Communications, Regional Communications, Marketing, and Social Media teams to ensure Retail communications are aligned across the organization including in social media channels and thought leadership content

• Leverage data and insights to inform future communications strategies and the effectiveness of campaigns

• Support crisis/reactive communications as-needed on Retail-specific issues

• Contribute to a high-performing culture built on teamwork, trust, and commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and learning

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or communications-related field.

• 5-7+ years of experience in corporate communications or public relations with financial industry media relations experience highly preferred.

• 5+ years of experience in the development of communications strategies in support of reputation, media relations, stakeholder relationship-building and crisis/issue management.

• Experience with both strategic and tactical social media initiatives and using social media to enhance business objectives.

• Strong writer and editor; excellent story telling capability and ability to develop content that resonates across multiple platforms.

• Strong media experience and relationships and demonstrated record of proactive, earned media placements.

• A strong grasp of communications and PR measurement and how they can help inform and impact business decisions.

  • Develops communication strategies in support of the strategic direction and oversees initiatives, materials, and staff priorities.

  • Develops communication strategies; plans, researches, and develops content for complex communications initiatives.

  • Identifies issues and opportunities, serves as trusted advisor to organization on all aspects of communication, and engages other parts of the organization to ensure strategic alignment, clarity, and accuracy of message.

  • Coordinates final review and approval before internal or external communications are released.

  • Leads project teams of increasing complexity, influences outcomes, and evaluates success as appropriate.

  • Consults and advises on communications strategies based on data-driven insights.
