Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District Custodial Worker in Cleveland, Ohio

Description JOB SUMMARY Under close supervision, performs routine building and grounds work. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Sweeps, cleans, dusts, waxes and buffs floors. Operates powered cleaning machines. - Dusts, polishes furniture and empties waste baskets. - Works from scaffolds or ladders to clean walls, ceilings and fixtures. - Washes wall surfaces, baseboards and windows. Helps move furniture and sets up equipment. - Performs routine building and grounds cleanup. - Maintains cleaning supplies and sweeps. - Rakes and washes walks and roadways. Shovels snow and spreads salt on icy pavements. - Makes minor repairs and adjustments to buildings, furniture and equipment. - Replaces light bulbs. Assists with maintenance of grass and landscaped areas, including grass mowing and prun. - Observes safe work practices. - Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Candidate must possess a high school diploma or it's GED equivalent. EXPERIENCE No prior experience required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Candidate must possess the ability to read and write, do manual labor, follow verbal and written instructions and to use tools required to perform various tasks. - Candidate must possess the ability to be reliable and punctual in reporting to work as scheduled. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS During the course of performing the essential functions of this position the employee must be able to analyze, comprehend, interpret, coordinate, and negotiate. Ability to interact and communicate while exhibiting strong decision-making skills, general intelligence, numerical intelligence, organizational skills, problem solving skills, task performance skills and resiliency is required. Physical work will need to be performed, such as standing, walking, driving, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, reaching, typing, talking, feeling, simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 60 lbs. on an occasional basis may be necessary. Lifting over 40 lbs. should be completed with assistance. Position will require visual demands of near and far acuity, depth perception, accommodation and color vision. Ability to enter a plant environment with extremely loud noise exposure is required.
