Ohio Means Jobs Cleveland Cuyahoga County is sourcing for driver positions for a local company that services special needs clients. We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Special Needs Van Driver and Monitor to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide safe transportation for school-age students with special needs or individualized education programs (IEPs). The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with diverse behavioral needs and an understanding of their unique challenges. Responsibilities: - Safely transport school-age students with special needs to and from designated locations, such as schools, therapy centers, or residential facilities - Ensure the well-being and safety of students during transit, adhering to all traffic rules and regulations - Assist students with boarding and disembarking from the van, ensuring their comfort and safety - Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other relevant stakeholders regarding any concerns or updates related to the students' transportation - Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the van, ensuring it is safe and functional at all times - Provide a supportive and caring environment for students during transit, promoting positive behavior and addressing any behavioral challenges that arise - Collaborate with parents, school staff, and therapists to implement individualized strategies and accommodations to meet the students' needs during transportation Requirements: - At least 21 years old - At least two years of licensed driving experience - Prior experience working with school-age students with special needs or behavior management is highly preferred - Valid driver's license with a clean driving record - Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and other stakeholders - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and appropriately - Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with students with special needs - Ability to pass a mandatory drug test and background check, paid for by the company This is a flexible position offering part-time opportunities. Compensation is a starting pay rate of $15 per hour.
