Case Western Reserve University Parking Maintenance Coordinator in Cleveland, Ohio

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Coordinate the maintenance of all parking facilities to ensure the safety of the university community and provide a clean, attractive, and user-friendly environment. Effectively supervise the activities of the Case Western University and LAZ Parking maintenance staff to ensure maximum productivity and compliance with the parking maintenance contract specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Supervise the activities of the parking partner/vendor maintenance staff to ensure maximum productivity and compliance with the parking maintenance contract specifications. (15%)
  2. Maintenance of lights in all lots and parking structures, changing bulbs and ballasts while conducting lighting and door surveys to ensure timely maintenance. (10%)
  3. Pressure wash and power sweep parking surfaces, clean catch basins, line stripe, stencil work, and painting guard rails and curbs. (10%)
  4. Repair and maintain parking surfaces and signs including asphalt and concrete surfaces.  (10%)
  5. Maintain and repair mechanical gate arms, gate boxes, doors, and locks to prevent malfunctions. (10%)
  6. Order/make and install/remove special event signs, and open/close lots to accommodate special events. (10%)
  7. Respond to emergency situations such as, but not limited to snow removal, floods, gasoline/oil spills, tripping hazards, broken glass, and dead animals. (10%)
  8. Use safety equipment and follow all safety procedures as required. (10%)
  9. Perform minor maintenance repairs on parking vehicles while working with outside repair shops. Wash vehicles to maintain professional appearance. (10%)

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist other departments and contractors as needed and perform other work-related functions as assigned. (5%)

CONTACTS

Department: Occasional contact with maintenance and security staff members when responding to emergencies.

University: Daily contact with faculty and staff parking occupants.

External: Daily contact with staff of Standard Parking and any visitor parking occupants.

Students: Daily contact with student parking occupants.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position will supervise the activities of the Standard Parking maintenance staff (non-Case employees) to ensure they meet the parking maintenance contract specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 5 years of parking maintenance experience, contract coordination and general maintenance experience.

Education: High school education

REQUIRED SKILLS

  1. Must have, or be prepared, to receive basic AHERA safety training.
  2. Experienced in properly using basic hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment.
  3. Valid Ohio driver¿s license, free from significant violations.
  4. Ability to be contacted by telephone and respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week within a half hour of the emergency arising.
  5. Ability to frequently lift up to 100 pounds.
  6. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as, but not limited to, street sweeper, tractor, bobcat, snowplow.
  7. Customer service oriented with regard to all faculty, students, other staff, and visitors of the university.
  8. Work well independently or as a team.
  9. Technical proficiency in maintaining mechanical equipment and indoor/outdoor lighting fixtures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions, including very hot and freezing temperatures, rain and snow. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking. May also require extended hours and/or weekends.
