The Sherwin-Williams Company R&D- Sr. Chemist in Cleveland, Ohio

TITLE: R&D Chemist Senior DUTIES: Lead new product development/commercialization projects through collaboration, planning, executing, and analysis of experiments with clear and accurate results. Facilitate communication/collaboration with other Divisions/functions within Sherwin Williams and with external companies for new technology scouting. Support formulation development, modification and testing of new coating systems. Provide manufacturing support of new product scale-up and technical support for application/fabrication trials at customer sites. Communicate results and conclusions, written or verbal, to Technical, Marketing, Sales and external customers as necessary. Demonstrate significant knowledge and use of chemicals, raw materials, substrates, application equipment and testing equipment. Work safely and maintain a safely working environment. Operate a variety of laboratory equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires 15% domestic travel and 5% international travel. SALARY: $106,850/year LOCATION: The Sherwin-Williams Company, 4440 Warrensville Center Rd., Warrensville Heights, OH 44128 REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field of study and five (5) years of experience as a Research Chemist, Chemist, QC Manager, Polymer Engineer or related role where required experience gained. SPECIAL SKILLS: Also requires experience in the following: * Five (5) years of lab experience working with products and technologies including but not limited to, 2K Epoxy/urethane products/technology; * Three (3) years in coating specific industry experience such as formulation/compounding, manufacturing process and quality control; * Proven track record of successful new product development in polymeric coating, adhesive or sealant; and * Industry experience in development, formulation and testing of polymer based coating systems.
