Actalent Site Safety & Health Officer in Clewiston, Florida
Job Description
Currently seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support a South Florida Water Management District Everglades restoration project. This project consists of diverting water flow, demolition of an existing structure, heavy earthwork, steel erection, underground piping, and concrete pours. The SSHO will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with government regulations and corporate policies/procedures. Responsibilities include inspecting machinery, equipment, and other working conditions on project sites, and observing workers to ensure the use of prescribed safety equipment. The SSHO will address EHS issues as guided by project and safety management and communicate with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and owner regarding health and safety.

Direct and administer specific functions of the EHS program
Create, evaluate, educate, and administer the EHS program
Assist/conduct surveys, evaluations, inspections, and investigations
Gather information and correlate data
Perform field training
Apply EHS procedures
Develop and maintain project safety files
Direct and supervise subordinates
Monitor and control EHS standards
Prepare, maintain, and retrieve records, reports, or documents
Promote EHS awareness
Soft Skills
Effective communication with Project Manager, subcontractors, and owner
Promote EHS awareness throughout the company
