Welding Engineers employ their extensive knowledge of physics, engineering, metallurgy, materials, welding, and standards to design, examine, and evaluate welds as well as to plan, supervise, and document welding operations in accordance with relevant codes and customer specifications.The role of the Welding Engineer is critical to the integrity of our business.RESPONSIBILITIES•Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of manufacturing specifications. Provide day to day support on the manufacturing floor with continuous improvement activities.•Provide expertise in GTAW and Sub-arc welding•Set weld parameters and follow up with weld testing to meet or exceed customer specifications•Investigate welding related issues to improve product performance and increase productivity•Write, edit, and update weld procedures qualifications to meet relevant code and quality applications•Troubleshoot welding problems and provide corrective solutions•Employing knowledge of metallurgy, welding, materials, physics, engineering, and standards for examining, designing, and evaluating welds.•Planning, supervising, and documenting welding operations using relevant codes, drawings, or contracts.•Designing, evaluating, and repairing welds using appropriate equipment, materials, and techniques.•Understanding the differences in welding various metals for corrosive, high-temp, or high pressure applications•Developing and improving welding techniques, equipment, and materials.•Overseeing welding operations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.•Demonstrate an interest in personal and professional lifelong learning and development.•Demonstrate a proven ability to use scientific method for problem solving of complex problems.•Proficiency in Industry Standard (ASTM) Test Methods is preferred REQUIREMENTS•B.S. in Engineering required, preferably in Welding from an accredited institution•Familiar with weld verification methods, weld testing methodology, and measuring devices.•GTAW and plasma/laser cutting experience preferred.•AWS certification/member preferred.Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
