Description

Oversees the division planning function, this includes direct supervision of the planning staff and maintaining a strong working relationship with front line Supervisors, relative to planning responsibilities. Responsibilities include ensuring effective job planning, scheduling, communication, preparations, staging, budget/forecasting, runtime forecasting, warehouse storage levels, and reporting.

  • Directly supervise the division Planners and other planning department staff

  • Responsible for setting meaningful objectives for the division Planners, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with front line supervisors, monitoring and quality control of planning processes through data measurement, ensuring adherence to all safety policies and procedure, etc.

  • Instrumental in ensuring that operational excellence is achieved in all maintenance activities

  • Support the Superintendent's success in ultimate safe job outcome and overall departmental effectiveness

  • Apply personal expertise and knowledge while managing planning/scheduling processes to ensure appropriate daily, short term, and long range planning and scheduling techniques are followed and executed properly

  • Ensure quality control in the application of planning processes and procedures

  • Pay special attention to preparation, communication, facilitation of intradepartmental activities and requirements, daily transaction requirements, and post job follow up

  • Drive the divisional "Runtime Forecasting" process execution and outcomes by:

  • overseeing the development of detailed monthly plans for each area,

  • facilitating a productive reconciliation meeting with all mine stakeholders

  • conducting a success-against-plan analysis each month

  • Collate and prepare division planning budget recommendations for the Superintendent

  • Ensure budget, forecast costs, parts availability and overall materials management processes etc. are in line with expectations

  • Spend time in the field providing review of job preparation, execution, and follow up

  • Ensure that pre-job and post-job requirements are consistently accomplished to Freeport-McMoRan standards

  • Provide adequate and timely feedback to division Superintendent on planning processes and schedules

  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and eight (8) years of progressive maintenance experience in mining/mfg or industrial operations, including five (5) years in a leadership or supervisory role OR

  • Associates in a technical field and six (6) years related experience in field maintenance in mining/mfg or industrial operations, including three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory role OR

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field and four (4) years of progressive maintenance experience in mining/mfg or industrial operations including supervisory or lead experience

  • Requires strong mentoring capabilities in the areas of: leadership, professionalism, organization/technical skills, etc.

  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques

  • Requires extensive working knowledge of Freeport-McMoRan standards, practices, and strategies.

  • Requires extensive knowledge and experience in SAP, including all maintenance, operations, statistics, general, and related modules, tables, and files; and familiarity with other software related to maintenance functions and systems

  • Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.

  • Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration

  • Requires competency in use of MS Office software

  • Requires significant project organization experience

  • Thorough understanding of the parts/materials management process, as well as, the SAP parts inventory process

  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff from various levels throughout the organization

  • Able to develop and maintain strong positive working relationships

  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit, and may frequently climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to twenty (20) pounds during the course of the workday

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

  • Will be required to travel up to twenty percent (20%) of the time

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently  $82,000-$113,000 . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
