rPosting Context Statement:

The Business Manager is a financial and operational leader at the University of Idaho Coeur dAlene (UICDA). This position focuses on a wide variety of finance, operations, customer service, and support functions. The incumbent positively represents UICDA both internally and externally, interacts with leased tenants regularly and is responsible for the financial health of UICDA. The incumbent supports the UICDA team and directly oversees the successful work of support staff. The Business Manager will utilize in-depth knowledge of day-to-day operations, knowledge of UI departments and contact points and customer service skills.

rrPosition Overview:

r

This position provides management, support, direction and training for administrative and financial staff. It also oversees communication and interaction with college support staff for personnel processes and works closely with university offices to research rules, regulations, processes and procedures, provide interpretation and make recommendations to administrators, departments and supervisors. This position operates with a high degree of delegated authority.

Duties may include:

  • Manage all human resource processes for the unit in coordination with Human Resources
  • Review and approve fiscal transactions
  • Independently compile fiscal information and calculate budget projections
  • Review and monitor grant and general budget balances to ensure funds are spent appropriately
  • Develop business plans for new initiatives, including formulating assumptions and forecasting revenues
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures and make recommendations on appropriate action
  • Manage and process electronic personnel action forms
  • Assist with daily financial and grant related operations
  • Supervise and train administrative and financial staff
  • Other duties as assigned

rrRequired Experience:

r

  • Four years providing financial processing support within an electronic finance system
  • Using spreadsheet software to compile, summarize, analyze, and report on financial data
  • Interpreting and applying financial stewardship policies, procedures, rules and regulations
  • One year of experience supervising or delegating work to others

rrRequired Education:

r

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Public Administration; four additional years of experience (eight total) may substitute for a Bachelors Degree

rrRequired Other:

  • None

rrAdditional Preferred:

r

  • Direct experience in a similar role
  • Financial management experience in property management
  • Experience working in Banner, Argos, Chrome River, and Jaggaer
  • Experience working in higher education
