TheRegistered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) / orMedical Assistant (MA)assists practitioners with administrative duties in assigned department within the hospital or clinic by obtaining patient records and test results, coordinating daily administrative tasks, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting practitioners during medical procedures.
JOB DUTIES:
- Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals, test results and other information for medical records
- Coordinate the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and patient medical record maintenance.
- Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness, for clinical exams and assist practitioners with procedures and other patient care.
- Deliver compassionate support, attention and assistance to patients and families
- Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Prepare and administer medications for patients as directed by physicians.
- Complete lab controls and proficiency testing, if needed
- Greet patients and prepare them for the type of treatment needed
- Instruct patients on treatment preparation and aftercare
- Obtain specimens, perform lab duties, draw blood and chart results, as needed
- Perform required testing and treatment such as EKGs, PFT, etc
- Communicates with pharmacies, nursing homes, other physicians or other entities required providing practitioners orders, verbatim
- Report lab, X-Ray, imaging and other diagnostics along with plan of care to patients as directed by practitioner
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security
TheRegistered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) / orMedical Assistant(MA)assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Nursing Director or Practitioner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public
- Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant scope
- Knowledgeable in policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
- Knowledgeable of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
- Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiar with electronic medical health care record systems
- Ability to maintain quality control standards
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
