Is responsible for picking up dirty and soiled linens from all areas of of the hospital. Ensures linens are prepared for transport to the laundry service. Washes and dries linens as required. Sorts clean linen into exchange carts for delivery to hospital departments. Sets par levels along with hospital department personel. Responsible for ordering linens using the computer.

ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. (E) 1. Collects soiled linens from departments within the hospital (E) 2. Packages soiled linens for pick up by the laundry service (E) 3. Operates washers and dryers using proper settings (E) 4. Sorts and washes mops and rags for EVS department (E) 5. Sorts rejects linens and ensures they are properly placed for return to laundry service (E) 6. Changes chemical barrels as necessary 7. Works with chemical service tech to ensure proper mixture of chemicals going into the washer 8. Washes off the outside of equipment – vaccums out dryer lint filter and dryer cabinet – dust mops and mops floors in laundry department (E) 9. Sorts clean linens and builds exchange carts –delivers linens to departments and restocks department carts or shelves (E) 10. Keeps linens, in the laundry department, neatly and properly stored 11. Works with Courier service to exchange soiled and clean linens at hospital clinics. 12. Sets par levels for the laundry department to ensure appropriate level of linens for all sites. 13. Collects and washes, speciality linens from departments 14. Washes, dries, presses and hangs lab coats

Education: H.S. Diploma or GED Skills: Ability to use the computer for ordering

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Years of Experience: Previous EVS and/or Laundry experience

WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Boots, Gloves, eye protection, rubber aprons,

Physical Demands:. Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations. Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, temperature changes, blood and body fluids. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
