Mitchell County Hospital District Housekeeping in Colorado City, Texas
Position Summary: Performs duties involved in cleaning and sanitizing furnishings and areas assigned.
OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
Qualifications:
Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Personal Job-Related Skills: Ability to read and write.
Licensure, Registry or Certification: None Required.
Current State Driver License Required.
Prior Work Experience: Entry level position.
Technical Training: None required.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Position requires extended periods of walking and standing. Lifting up to 50 pounds and transporting up to 300 pounds on carts. Pushing and pulling carts, bending, stooping, and reaching in storing supplies and cleaning activities. The ability to climb ladders and reach overhead. The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions or directions.
Conscientious worker with attention to detail.
Knowledge of hospital district and department procedures and operations.
Manual dexterity, both fine and gross motor skills required.
Must be able to follow instructions and assigned routine.
Must be courteous in interactions with residents and other hospital district employees.
Preference for repetitive activities.
Capable of judgment, discretion and respect for confidential information.
Mechanical ability required to operate various machines.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills
Maintain an acceptable attendance and punctuality in accordance with Mitchell County Hospital District Standards.
Protects the confidentiality of resident care information.
Protects the confidentiality of interdepartmental discussions and activities.
Abide by hospital district and department policies and procedures.
Check daily cleaning assignment and select materials and supplies to load service cart for daily work.
Leaves soiled linens and trash in designated areas and containers consistent with universal precautions. Leaves cart and equipment clean.
Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, floors, and equipment with approved cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease.
Use dust cloths and vacuum cleaner to clean window seals, blinds, floors and furniture.
Empties trash baskets and arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.
Scours tubs and sinks mirrors and similar equipment replenishing supplies of soap, paper towels, sanitizer and other dispensable items.
Notifies supervisor when supplies are low.
Reports any mechanical failures or negative safety conditions observed and prepares work order for maintenance.
Observes safe lifting procedures and works with others in moving heavy furniture.
Responsible for understanding hazardous materials precautions. In-service is mandatory.
Responsible for understanding universal precautions and for utilizing protective gloves and gowns as necessary. Also must understand precautions necessary in the disposal of waste and sharps containers.
Leaves room in readiness for resident admissions and completes cleaning of resident rooms for residents discharged on workers assigned shift.
Is aware of safety precautions and always posts caution signs for wet floors, etc.
Assist co-workers in their responsibilities as necessary.
Clean walls, wheelchairs, doors, windows, light fixtures, etc.
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Responsibilities:
When cleaning resident rooms look for personal items and sharps left in drawers, linen, and restroom.
Making sure janitor closet doors are locked at all times.
Check for residents being discharged or transferred, so rooms can be as stipulated in established procedures.
Other Significant Requirements:
Maintain HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
Follow all policies and procedures set forth by Mitchell County Hospital District.
