Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer DevOps – DevSecOps Engineer (24-435) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO. , or Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The selected candidate will support the C2BMC DevSecOps team in developing and deploying Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service capability. They will also assist in managing multiple environments, software deployment, troubleshooting, and automation in a DevSecOps environment for a critical customer program.

Essential Functions:

  • Effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools

  • Responsible for working independently / solo on large projects; at other times, will be in a collaborative team environment with other DevSecOps engineers and other program development and deployment teams

  • Understanding of HP server configuration

  • Work on systems administration-related hardware and software issues for different network environments

  • Support deployment of custom software solutions integrating COTS , GOTS , and developed software

  • Propose system administration process improvement to reduce overall maintenance requirements by working with the design team and manufacturers

  • Determines systems requirements, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system configuration

  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies

  • Develops and recommends corrective actions

  • May provide technical guidance for database administrators and software developers

Salary Range for Huntsville: $102,400 - $153,600

Salary Range for Colorado Springs: $97,500 - $146,300

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • An active Secret clearance is required to start

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered

  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (CompTIA Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required to start

  • Experience with Linux or Windows System Administration

  • Scripting skills in languages such as Bash or PowerShell

  • Experience with automation

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps principles

  • Work with the leading DevOps practices and tooling:

  • Ansible Automation Platform , including Ansible Tower

  • HashiCorp Packer and Vault

  • Gitlab CI/CD

  • Nexus Pro

  • Experience in virtualization technology, including VMware

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the software development life cycle

  • Experience with Agile methodology

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Salary Range: $97,500 - $153,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
