Kratos has an exciting opportunity for a SATCOM Systems Engineer with the following job responsibilities:

  • Help lead the entire systems development lifecycle for the Kratos Global Sensor Network (KGSN)

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to derive and document requirements

  • Define and mange a system baseline for network and satellite communications equipment

  • Implement and manage processes for hardware and software configuration management

  • Support design of satellite communication sites and datacenters, to include antenna systems, RF signal processing chains, compute and network equipment.

  • Develop and maintain design documentation for the entire system.

  • Creatively overcome engineering roadblocks and resolve operational issues

  • Lead problem reporting and tracking, to include root cause failure analyses

  • Procure capital equipment and oversee execution of annual equipment budget

  • Help foster and lead a culture of continuous process improvement

  • Communicate project status to internal and external stakeholders as needed

  • Help lead the Agile development process by developing and coordinating roadmaps with Product Owners and other Stakeholders

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (EE, ME, AE, CS) or applied sciences (Mathematics, Physics)

  • Experience in decomposition of Govt/Customer requirements to a system, subsystem, and components

  • Experience in generating and executing a RTVM (Requirement Traceability Verification Matrix)

  • Experience in defining system requirements, maintaining and upgrading the system, assessing the appropriate upgrades and EOL part replacement

  • Experience in organizing external and internal project stakeholders towards achieving project goals and objectives

  • Experience in SATCOM ground system design, installation, operational monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Ability to brief, explain complex engineering concepts and designs to technical and non-technical personnel

  • Experience working with diverse Engineering Staff with multiple areas of expertise

  • Self-motivated and capable of working as a team member on projects consisting of multiple groups of developers, engineers, and testers.

  • Leading independent task teams within a larger system team

  • Able to articulate technical concepts orally and in written forms both internally to the team as well as externally to the customer and users.

  • Solid understanding of computer system architectures and cybersecurity

  • Experience with Configuration and Change Management Processes

  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience, with five (5) years in space SATCOM/RF and/or satellite ground systems

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Experience with system architecture, requirements, interface definition, integration, verification, and validation

  • Experience with Agile and SAFe principles and processes

  • Experience with satellite space and/or ground systems

  • Experience with cloud architectures

  • Experience with software development

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Competitive salary based on experience and education Salary Range: $120,000-$180,000
