The SARA High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a Shop Assistant / Shop Technician who is self-motivated and has a strong drive to fill in with any support as needed, at our Colorado Springs, CO location. The ideal candidate would have forklift experience and be comfortable moving between tasks multiple times per day. Work examples would include but not be limited to emptying metal recycling bins, running automated floor cleaner, sand blasting, hand cleaning machines/work areas, some sanding and masking, and light wood working.

The Shop Assistant / Shop Technician will support manufacturing production in a variety of environments that will include assembly, machine shop, and welding. Familiarity with these working environments is a plus. Because of the flexibility in nature of this position, strong communication will be essential for success.

Core Responsibilities: * Self-motivated and able to move between tasks effectively with limited directive * Comfortable working with hands and working in busy and production-based environments * Excellent verbal communication skills * Ability to work in agile and changing environment * Floating between different production areas and supporting members of those areas to maximize team efficiency * Keep work areas clean and organized (floors, workbenches, equipment, tools, etc.) * On occasion work in an Electrical Static Discharge (ESD) controlled environment

Requirements: * High school diploma or equivalent * High awareness of surroundings * Ability to complete assigned tasks and special assignments using documented work instructions with minimal supervision * Skilled at utilizing common hand tools and knowledge of proper use * Work well in a team environment * Self-starter with a strong work ethic * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office and Email) * Organize and prioritize workload efficiently * US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance

Physical Essential Functions: * Good manual dexterity with hand/eye coordination * Moderate to strenuous physical effort, involving standing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, squatting, sitting and use of hand(s) while performing duties, carrying, or lifting to 40+ pounds * Working environment is indoor, moderately loud, moderate physical hazards may exist * Must be able to pass and maintain pass' status on OSHA-approved Pulmonary Fitness Test (PFT) in order to wear a respirator for prolonged periods of time, if applicable

Preferred Qualifications: * 1-3 years of relevant job experience * Forklift driving experience * Experience in manufacturing environment

Pay Range Salary at SARA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $18 to $20 (hourly USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range fo this position and is just one component of SARA's total compensation package for employees. Positions are on-site, unless indicated otherwise.
