Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead the systems engineering team in the design, development, and integration of the Enterprise Overhead Persistent Infra-Red (OPIR) Solution (EOS). This role requires deep technical expertise, the ability to lead complex engineering efforts, and a strong understanding of satellite ground system architectures. The Senior Systems Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the system meets mission requirements and program objectives.

Please note, this position is contingent upon successful capture of the EOS contract.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Requirements Development and Management:

  • Analyze customer and mission requirements, ensuring proper decomposition and allocation across subsystems

  • Maintain traceability of requirements to system elements, software CIs, and test artifacts

  • Support the validation and verification of requirements through simulation, analysis, and testing

  • System Design and Architecture:

  • Develop and refine system architectures, including functional, logical, and physical designs using MBSE tools (i.e. Cameo)

  • Conduct trade studies to evaluate design alternatives and optimize system performance

  • Ensure alignment of system architecture with program constraints and operational objectives

  • Integration and Test Support:

  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and test teams to support system integration and end-to-end testing

  • Assist with development and execution of system test plans, procedures, and reports

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during development, integration, and testing phases

  • Risk and Issue Management:

  • Identify and assess technical risks, developing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on program cost and schedule

  • Document and resolve technical issues, ensuring timely resolution

  • Collaboration and Mentorship:

  • Act as a technical advisor to junior engineers, providing guidance and mentorship

  • Collaborate with SEIT leadership, program management and customer stakeholders to ensure alignment on technical objectives and deliverables

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on satellite ground systems or aerospace programs

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements management, architecture development, and system integration

  • Proficiency in engineering tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, STK, and MATLAB

  • Familiarity with DoD standards and acquisition processes, including MIL-STDs and RMF

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Overhead Persistent Infra-Red (OPIR) mission area

  • Certification in systems engineering or MBSE (e.g., INCOSE CSEP, OCSMP)

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements for DoD systems (e.g., RMF, DISA STIGs)

  • Hands-on experience with satellite operations or ground system commissioning

    Education/Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline

    Clearance Requirement

    Active DoD Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
