Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sentinel Systems Engineering Section Manager . This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You’ll Get To Do

The selected candidate will be responsible for a Specialty Engineering Section within the SDS Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to an SDS Specialty Engineering Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team of between 8 and 12 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects. This position will be 100% onsite with a standard 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on a technical assignment on an SDS project or IPT.

The successful candidate will have experience or familiarity in one or more of the following fields as pertains to ICBM weapons systems: System Safety Engineering, System Security Engineering, Human Factors Engineering and/or Technical Writing.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

• Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.

• Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.

• Supporting FHR efforts in areas of process improvement, training and staffing

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Systems Engineering Section Manager :

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 6 years of related experience or 4 years of related experience with a Masters in STEM

• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

• Minimum of 1 year of proven demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Masters’ degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math related field of study

• 6 years of experience in one or more of the following technical areas System Safety Engineering, System Security Engineering, Human Factors Engineering and/or Technical Writing

• Active Top Secret Clearance with an investigation completed within the last 6 years

• General understanding of NG Engineering Processes

• Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines.

• Experience on ICBMs

• Experience managing an engineering team is preferred

• Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira

Salary Range: $138,100 - $207,100

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
