Robert Half Sr. Financial Analyst in Columbia, Maryland

Description

We are seeking a Program Analyst to join our client's team in Columbia, Maryland. This role involves extensive financial analysis, project forecasting, budgeting, and the use of advanced Excel skills in the government contracting arena. This is a key role with a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the financial health of the projects.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Project Managers to establish accurate project forecasts and budgets which consider factors such as cost drivers, collections, unbilled, and aging factors.

• Study past project data to guide future budgeting and forecasting decisions ensuring they align with project goals.

• Create, on a quarterly basis, Estimates at Completion (EAC) and assist in formulating accurate Estimates to Complete (ETC).

• Continuously track project financials, identify any variances, and provide detailed explanations and appropriate corrective actions.

• Utilize intermediate to advanced Excel skills to develop and maintain intricate financial models and improve financial reporting templates.

• Demonstrate expertise in Deltek Costpoint as an ERP system to accurately input and retrieve financial data, ensuring data accuracy and seamless integration with IT and finance teams.

• Work with Program Managers to ensure clear understanding of their program’s financial status, provide insightful financial analysis, and conduct regular financial performance reviews.

• Support month-end close activities, ensuring costs are recorded correctly and revenue recognition is accurate, and prepare financial presentations for leadership.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience

• Understanding of the different types of government contracts

• Proficient in the use of financial software, specifically Costpoint or Unanet

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Ability to interpret and analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support

• Advanced knowledge of Excel
