Eurofins Scientist, Biochemistry in Columbia, Missouri

Perform various tasks and analyses of Bio/pharmaceutical ingredients and products; reviewing or preparing standards and samples for analysis and running a variety of equipment or instrumentation independently; working efficiently; ensuring that client receives quality data by reviewing laboratory data for accuracy, clarity and adherence to GMP and/or GLP regulations; evaluate current systems and suggest process improvements when appropriate; initiate and assist completing investigations.

  • Perform/Review preparations of reagents, samples, and standards according to procedures

  • Perform or review routine and non-routine analyses: instrumental analyses; including calibration and troubleshooting of instruments independently

  • Document testing, observations, deviations, and results clearly and completely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements – striving to minimize errors

  • Understand and perform calculations as required by test methods

  • Understand and utilize computers for information access, calculations, and report preparation/review

  • Read and understand analytical procedures (compendial and client supplied) and internal SOP’s

  • Demonstrate technical writing skills

  • Process/review data, generate/review reports, and evaluate data

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Independently seek out work

  • Perform laboratory maintenance as required

  • Commitment to occasional overtime as workload requires

  • Support LEAN initiatives

  • Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner

  • Communicates effectively with client staff members

  • Ensures good housekeeping with a neat, clean, and orderly workspace

  • Performs other duties as assigned

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, or ability required.

  • Ability to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and method/protocol documents that detail testing steps and requirements

  • Be able to maintain independent time keeping and track hours against project work performed

  • Complete simple assignments in the laboratory following appropriate training

  • Demonstrate documentation practices appropriate for a regulatory environment with regards to content and accuracy

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or related degree concentration and some previous laboratory experience

Position is a full time Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30 p.m., with overtime as needed.
