Your Opportunity

Stantec's multi-disciplinary office in Charleston and Columbia, SC has an opportunity for a highly motivated Civil/Transportation Engineering Intern.

This position offers work as a member of our Transportation Group in a team environment with exposure to roadway, traffic, and bridge projects which may include assisting with roadway and highway design, construction observation, grading design, stormwater modeling and analysis, traffic control design, and the use of CAD software including MicroStation and Power GeoPak in support of active South Carolina DOT, County, and City transportation projects.

This is a paid summer internship position with opportunity for a part-time schedule during the semester.

Your Key Responsibilities + Gather project data + Prepare and assemble reports and drawings + Perform routine calculations + Assist with MicroStation drafting and design, and preparation of construction documents + Observe and attend meetings with design team, and other project stakeholders + Other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Literacy in MicroStation is an asset

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction

  • Ability to work independently

  • Must have a good driving record, and valid driver’s license

Education and Experience

  • In progress towards earning a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
