Cardinal Health Copywriter, Marketing Communications in Columbus, Ohio

This position is remote day-to-day, however preference will be given to applicants residing in OH who can travel to Columbus, OH, as needed (approximately 1-3 times per quarter).

What Content Marketing contributes to Cardinal Health

This position is part of the Content Marketing team, which is responsible for partnering with marketing and cross-functional teams throughout the Medical Segment to deploy, measure and optimize omnichannel marketing strategies used to attract, engage and retain an audience. We do this by creating and sharing valuable, relevant and consistent content to establish expertise, promote brand awareness and drive demand.

Job Summary

The Copywriter supports the strategic direction, creation and editing of multimedia marketing communications materials for the Medical Segment, including creative concepting alongside designers, product or service messaging frameworks, long-form content (e.g., white papers, case studies), webpages, video scripts, brochures and digital ads. As a key creative thought leader, the Copywriter will work directly with internal Medical Segment business partners to understand their unique business challenges then ideate and execute writing deliverables that help solve those challenges. The Copywriter partners closely with in-house content marketing managers, designers and SEO experts to ensure material is optimized for omnichannel experiences. The Copywriter edits new and existing materials created by business partners in accordance with house style. The ideal candidate is proactive, curious and must exhibit strong promotional and functional writing skills while being held to high standards, including excellent command of AP Style.

Responsibilities

  • Ideates, writes and/or edits creative, effective marketing copy according to project specifications/creative brief from concept to execution that delivers on identified business goals

  • Is accountable for the final development of creative assets and ensures accuracy, attention to detail, grammatical excellence and adherence to Brand voice, tone and style as well as AP style

  • Recommends, researches and develops facts, quotes and scenarios to direct creative strategy and execution

  • Acts as subject matter expert recommending best-in-class written approach in all channels, and remains current on communication trends

  • Partners with in-house SEO experts to ensure all .com copy (e.g., meta descriptions, tags, body copy) is optimized for search

  • Project-manages own workload and collaborates with cross-functional partners as needed for specific project objectives

  • Demonstrates excellent verbal communication skills and has proven success with live creative pitches to clients/partners, facilitation of kickoff calls, etc.

  • Works directly with clients, peers and leadership to continuously evaluate metrics and KPIs to improve written contributions

  • Understands writing applications in traditional and emerging channels

  • Ensures messaging is concise, effective, accurate and consistent with house style

  • Exhibits consistent quality control in copywriting and editing outputs

  • Exhibits an understanding of specific channels or vertical markets as required by job function

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt style of copy to various audiences, purposes or media while ensuring alignment to master brand

  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to move projects forward, acts as communication subject matter expert and demonstrates excellent relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues

  • Operates effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Demonstrated ability to project manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects

  • Proficient in AP Style

  • Demonstrated expertise in the Microsoft Office suite as required by the job function

Qualifications

  • 6+ years’ experience working within a corporate or agency copy/editing position preferred

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field preferred

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to function collaboratively with team

  • Understanding of traditional, digital and emerging communication channels

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Working knowledge in AP Style

Anticipated salary range: $66,500 - $99,645

**The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
