Defense Finance and Accounting Service IT Specialist (Application Software) in Columbus, Ohio

Duties
  • Serves as member of the software developer team for a key Department of Defense (DoD) Enterprise system, Defense Cash Accountability System (DCAS).
  • Uses PL/SQL to create, modify and maintain web-based software solutions. Experience with Java, JavaScript, SQL, Oracle databases, and/or UNIX scripting is a plus.
  • Works in an agile software development environment, using cutting-edge automated unit testing.
  • Works with functional analysts to identify system change requirements in order to develop new functions/capabilities to meet mission objectives.
  • Designs modifications to internal program structures in files and records and determines detailed sequence of steps and program logic.
  • Uses advanced testing techniques to diagnose and correct errors in coding logic.
  • Assists in development and design of operating system architecture and capabilities, configuration alternatives, data file management, system utility capabilities, standards and procedures, configuration management, and capacity planning.

  • In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months.
