Lab Equipment Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Lab Equipment Specialist responsible for maintaining, performing, reviewing, and scheduling lab equipment calibrations, including HPLC, UPLC, GC, and more. This role involves direct communication with service engineers and Quality Laboratory management for impacted instrumentation, identifying root causes for instrumentation failures, and conducting instrument repairs to ensure efficient laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, perform, review, and schedule lab equipment calibrations, including HPLC, UPLC, GC, and more.

  • Communicate directly with service engineers and Quality Laboratory management for impacted instrumentation.

  • Identify root causes for instrumentation failures through impact assessment processes.

  • Review Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification (IQ OQ PQ).

  • Conduct instrument repairs to ensure working and efficient laboratories through trending and data analysis.

  • Identify unreliable instrumentation that can no longer be maintained.

  • Maintain, review, and schedule equipment in the database.

  • Follow work instructions, SOPs, and company practices.

  • Document analytical activities and results accurately, in a timely manner, and maintain data integrity.

  • Follow written analytical procedures and support troubleshooting activities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science field (Chemistry, Biochemistry preferred, but Biology, Microbiology, Physics, Environmental Science, Pharmaceutical Science considered).

  • 3+ years of prior laboratory experience with higher-level lab equipment.

  • Experience with HPLC, GC, UPLC, and UV-Vis.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make general repairs to laboratory equipment.

  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn new software, troubleshoot basic computer problems, and interface computer systems with lab instrumentation.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to teach and convey technical knowledge.

  • Knowledge of GMP regulations, analytical instrument qualification, calibration, and documentation requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in metrology and quality inspection.

  • Ability to develop training materials for others.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00
