Job Description

Join Takeda as a Manager of Payer Contracting. Where you will lead the development and implementation of assigned Payer and PBM contracts with an emphasis on drafting and editing complex agreements for Commercial and Medicare Part D entities. You will also act as the key business partner with Managed Markets, Legal and Finance to guide the evaluation of new commercial opportunities; Participate in the business case process to review the opportunities and assist in the evaluation of proposals to ensure it meet the business unit financial and strategic objectives. You will also negotiate with external customers and internal partners and act as subject matter expert regarding the impact and risk of terms and conditions memorialized within contracts and advise appropriate action to maintain the contracting integrity.

How you will contribute:

  • Responsible for the technical and analytical support for payer contracts including:

  • Drafting and editing of contract documents

  • Highlighting issues and concerns for legal review

  • Managing contract compliance and adherence to the approved business case

  • Resolving internal/external account issues and concerns

  • Provide a high level of contracting support including drafting and editing contract documents, executing contract documents, managing deadlines relative to contract expirations and post contract evaluation for payer accounts to achieve favorable economic and/or strategic terms

  • Independently interact with Legal, Managed Markets and external customers to discuss business issues to ensure that business deals meet or exceed the requirements of the corporation and the department

  • Interpret and translate business case requirements into contract language, predicts potential customer concerns, negotiate contract language with external customers and translates such information to ensure accurate contract terms and rebate calculations

  • Oversee the agreement compliance process – both performance compliance and compliance to terms and conditions; recommend adjustments if necessary

  • Assists with the contract implementation of modified strategies, new product launch activities and special projects

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or 10 years related work experience; master’s degree preferred.

  • 5 years of business experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preference for Managed Markets and/or Finance required.

  • Proven track record of leading and driving business process transformation and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverables

  • Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry

  • Effectively interact with staff, management and executives from all functional areas as well as with key customers across Managed Markets, USBU Finance and Legal.

  • Ability to build strong partnerships by motivating others, inspiring confidence and rewarding innovation.

  • Ability to present complex information clearly and with confidence.

  • Excellent communicator, able to persuasively convey both ideas and data, verbally and in writing.

  • Support new product launches, program initiatives and business integrations.

  • Embraces and demonstrates a diversity and inclusion mindset and role models these behaviors for the organization.

  • Travel Requirement- 5%

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$108,500.00 - $170,500.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
