Patient Care Assistant-Infectious Disease (C05B) Requisition ID 2024-53938 Category Nursing Support Overview Contingent, 16 hours per month, day shift. Students must be able to work as scheduled for at least one year, no exceptions. Starting pay:$19.00/hr + based on experience and applicable shift differentials. Non-exempt, benefits and overtime eligible. The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for performing basic supportive care to specified patients/families under the direction and supervision of an RN/Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN Care Manager but does not interpret data. Demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate care and service for pediatric patients from birth to 21 years, and selected adults. Why Nationwide Children's Hospital? Responsibilities Performs clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as necessary. Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as: blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights. Completes screening questions and documents all items into medical record. Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen testing. Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures. Preps all materials and supplies as needed. Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information. Ensures environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained. Identifies learning needs and attends continuing education as appropriate. Participates in educational activities offered by the business unit. Acts as a preceptor of orientation and training of other PCA staff. Qualifications Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Licensure & Experience Required: Active State Tested Nursing Assistant, OR One year of comparable experience in a hospital setting within the past 3 years, OR Nursing students can qualify if they have successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing course(s) of an approved college/school program. Certifications: Current CPR (BLS for healthcare provider required). Skills: 1. Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. 2.
