Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Architectural Project Manager based in Ohio to lead and execute multidisciplinary projects with a focus on Civic/Municipal, Science & Technology, and Higher Education projects in a highly collaborative and design-focused studio.
This hire can be seated in either our Cleveland or Columbus office and will work on a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days a week in the office and rest remote.
The role will be responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and budget of projects across the project lifecycle - from conceptual studies to full design and construction administration. Responsible for planning and managing project staffing requirements, reporting project performance, and identifying and addressing scope creep, schedule, or quality issues to ensure the successful delivery of assigned projects.
Job Summary/Core Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management:
Spearhead the development of deeply rooted and enduring partnerships with AECOM's clients, driving opportunities for future collaboration and growth.
Establish collaborative partnerships with our clients early on to align expectations, define working methodologies, engage key stakeholders, and establish timelines for critical decisions.
Ensure seamless client communication and internal coordination, including the preparation of comprehensive project documentation.
Maintain and nurture positive client relationships as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle: Clearly communicate design, construction, and project-related issues to clients in a succinct and compelling manner.
Assume a prominent role in pivotal meetings and presentations, demonstrating AECOM's expertise and unwavering commitment to client contentment.
Support business development efforts in concert with Senior Leadership and a dedicated Business Development Manager to support AECOM's growth objectives.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of AECOM's contractual obligations to clients and projects, ensuring that our team consistently delivers on scope of work and required services. Proactively collaborate with clients to identify and obtain approvals for additional scope of work or services prior to implementation. Effectively advocate for client approvals and facilitate timely processing of payments for services rendered.
Lead multi-disciplinary project teams in collaboration with client leadership to establish project objectives, develop comprehensive work plans, and achieve targets related to quality, budget, schedule, innovation, and profitability.
Project Management:
Overseeing a diverse slate of projects across multiple market sectors.
Coordinating internal resources and external subcontractors for seamless project execution.
Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with financial objectives.
Contributing to the definition of project scope and objectives.
Creating and monitoring comprehensive project plans.
Managing changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
Implementing a proactive risk management strategy to mitigate project risks.
Maintaining control over project documentation.
Leadership and Team Management:
Efficiently collaborate with all team members to cultivate a positive team atmosphere centered on participation, empowerment, and collective success.
Managing and leading all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas
Provide proactive mentorship and guidance to project teams to foster the growth and development of multidisciplinary team members through constructive feedback and lessons learned discussions.
Being a great collaborator and communicator as part of the Senior leadership group, helping to enhance and continue supporting a culture of business development amongst the team.
Managing sub-consultant scope, fees, deliverables, and performance
Providing leadership experience, including managing client expectations and multi-disciplinary teams
Technical Expertise and Innovation:
Reviewing and negotiating contracts, preparing fee proposals, and ensuring technical feasibility
Applying advanced knowledge of architectural planning and design processes, construction documentation, construction administration, and code requirements
Managing concurrent projects in various stages of development with an emphasis on design, sustainability, and innovation
Being an innovative problem solver with excellent communication and presentation skills
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, plus six (6) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Holding a Master's or Bachelor degree focused on Architecture
Licensed Architect with 15+ years of related industry experience, with minimally the last 7 years spent in a Project Management or Client Leadership focused role.
Demonstrating proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and the full suite of MS Office applications
Combines precision and thoroughness with adaptability and a drive for innovation.
Ambitious self-starter with a get-it-done attitude who strives for excellence
Advanced knowledge of the architectural planning and design process, construction documentation, construction administration, and code requirements
Experience managing concurrent projects in various stages of development and managing multiple project types with an emphasis on design, sustainability, and innovation
Innovative problem solver with excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills and a proven ability to manage people and projects through strong demonstrated organizational skills
Based on the nature of the clients and projects this hire will support, US Citizenship is strongly preferred.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $165,000.00.
