Speech Language Pathologist - Behavioral Health Pavilion Requisition ID 2024-52735 Category Allied Health Overview The Speech Language Pathologist screens and/or evaluates speech, language, oral motor skills, swallowing, and cognition, scores and interprets tests, plans and provides therapeutic intervention, provides patient and family education, and communicates with outside agencies and referral sources. Provides age-appropriate care and services to patients from the age of birth to 21 years, and select adult patients. The following position is specific to Clinical Therapies Behavioral Health services at Nationwide Children's Hospital. This position includes the following programs as the primary service areas: Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion Inpatient Psychiatric Units The ECMH Outpatient Clinic This position is contingent upon the ability of the individual to pass and maintain competency in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training. Training and opportunities to maintain competency are regularly offered and funded by the organization. The is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, four 10-hour shifts. Responsibilities Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental and/or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations; identifies patient's strengths and deficits; establishes goals; and develops an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and family needs. Administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence; utilizes developmental activities and other treatment techniques to meet each patient's specific needs and achieve therapy goals; observes progress and/or changes in patient's condition and modifies treatment plan accordingly. Educates patients/parents/caregivers on treatment goals and therapy plan; instructs on therapeutic activities to follow at home; documents instruction; and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. Documents patients evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plan, and recommendations in compliance with documentation requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations; utilizes appropriate computerized or standardized documentation methods, as applica
