Position Overview At Hexion, we handle complex business on a daily basis. Our legal team helps ensure the work we do meets risk and compliance standards. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a crucial role in business related matters encompassing various areas of law, including but not limited to corporate governance, M&A activity and compliance. You will be responsible for helping to uphold Hexion's image and maintaining a culture of excellence and professionalism. Job Responsibilities Support and work closely with Hexion's legal team and senior leaders on company legal, regulatory and business matters Review agreements for accuracy, comprehensiveness, and compliance with business needs and all relevant legal requirements Provide legal advice as required Work with outside legal counsel as required Perform legal research, review and prepare contracts and other legal documentation Minimum Qualifications Successful candidates will have 10+ years of experience Self-motivated with a high sense of professional ethics and integrity Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actions for the business Law degree from an accredited university License to practice law in relevant jurisdictions Bar membership in good standing Attention to detail is a must Critical thinker and problem solver Professional and courteous demeanor Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced team environment Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs Working knowledge of contracts, transactional and general corporate and business disciplines Excellent research skills Demonstrated ability to manage a range of legal matters Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of national regulations, and general corporate law Familiarity with corporate structures Understanding of regional regulations and cross-border transactions Other In order to be considered for this position candidates are required to submit an application for employment through our career site, be at least 18 years of age, willing to take a drug test , submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process, as well as additional periodic background checks as required by the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) or regulations adopted by the Department of Homeland Security or other regulatory agencies Candidates are required to have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
