McKesson Corporation Technical Accounting Manager in Columbus, Ohio

This position functions as a key member of the CoverMyMeds Business Unit Accounting function providing the technical accounting support to the business unit. This individual is responsible for (i) advising Sales, Legal and the Business regarding the structuring of customer, vendor or partnership arrangements during the contract negotiation process, (ii) communicating complex accounting/finance topics to stakeholders effectively; (iii) providing guidance and education to the relevant stakeholders on accounting policies and processes; (iv) collaborate among different teams and developing partnerships with the Business Unit, Finance, Legal and Sales to drive value-add results and processes; and (v) researching accounting issues, successfully concluding and communicating the impact to relevant stakeholders. Position Description 1. Contract Consultation This position is expected to provide timely, relevant and accurate accounting guidance regarding the structuring of technology contractual arrangements. * Be proficient in US GAAP, internal policies, and other applicable accounting standards primarily related to technology arrangements (e.g., software, services, hardware, SAAS, outsourcing, remote hosting, etc.) and understand how these standards are applied in complex business arrangements. * Understand the desired business and financial objectives related to each contractual arrangement and advise Legal, Sales, Business Units and Financial Management on how to structure the arrangement to achieve such desired objectives. * Develop reporting for Business Unit contractual arrangements and incorporate all relevant metrics and drivers that are meaningful to the targeted users. * Communicate accounting results or other relevant topics verbally, in writing and in presentations to stakeholders. * Ensure the accounting treatment for all Business Unit arrangements executed within a period are concluded on accurately and communicated to the appropriate internal groups within the appropriate close timeline. * Manage and participate in process improvement initiatives related to the contract consultation processes. 2. Communication This position is expected to have proficient communication skills and responsible for communicating existing accounting standards, the adoption of new accounting standards, policies, procedures, processes, etc. * Prepare and effectively deliver concise and meaningful presentations, memos and email communications. * Have the ability to translate difficult accounting concepts to non-accountants in a manner that can be clearly understood. 3. Collaboration and Partnerships This position will require creating effective working relationships with the Business Unit, Finance, Legal and Sales teams. * Proactively engage with stakeholders to understand the nature of transactions and requirements. * Obtain an understanding of the business and financial needs of the Business Unit. * Able to think "outside the box" to solve accounting and other financial issues. * Proactively assist the stakeholders by proposing, gaining acceptance and implementing thoughts, concepts, methodologies, processes, financial evaluation tools and other value-add deliverables. * Work collaboratively with the Business Unit's finance and accounting team, corporate and other business units' accounting team. 4.
