Job Summary

As a Vehicle Technician at Battelle, you support the production and maintenance of Battelle’s expertly engineered vehicles that provide superior on and off-road performance for military, security, and other government needs. With more than 20 years of experience, Battelle is equipped with a realistic understanding of field challenges and requirements for mission success. Whether the assignment calls for a handful of specialized trucks or a fleet of sedans, SUVs, and vans, Battelle has the experience your team can rely on. For more than a decade, we’ve been building and armoring tactical and commercial vehicles for military, special operations, and other government needs.

You will be integral in assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical components of vehicles. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of various types of vehicles. You will collaborate closely with a team of engineers and technicians to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and guarantee that all vehicle systems meet both safety standards and high-performance benchmarks.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and mechanical components in vehicles to meet defined schedules.

  • Assembles pre-made mechanical components according to print, manual, or verbal instruction; follows released and standard procedures to assemble products.

  • Conducts preliminary diagnostic analysis of products for repair and/or troubleshooting using schematics, diagrams, and system knowledge.

  • Repair malfunctioning vehicle systems and components using diagnostic tools and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

  • Read and interpret vehicle blueprints, electrical and electronic circuit diagrams, and schematics.

  • Test vehicle systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures to ensure compatibility and safety of system.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and testing on vehicle electrical systems, and ensure installations are to manufacturer standards.

  • Replace faulty wiring and electrical components such as sensors, relays, switches, motors, and other vehicle parts.

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and collaborate with the safety team to mitigate risks on the job.

  • Document all repairs, tests, and maintenance performed.

Key Qualifications

  • High school diploma; with 2+ years experience conducting related electrical/mechanical assembly tasks.

  • Demonstrates good mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.

  • Has experience with automotive, truck or boat mechanics or electrical systems.

  • Able to disassemble mechanical and electrical vehicle components.

  • Able to install new mechanical and electrical vehicle components.

  • Able to conceive of and prototype simple mechanical devices such as armor plate, brackets, fixtures, etc.

  • Demonstrates basic cutting, grinding, drilling skills and/or soldering, wiring, and electrical fabrication skills.

  • Good problem-solving skills.

  • Takes direction from more senior staff.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and with limited supervision as needed.

  • This position operates on two shifts. Candidates must be willing and flexible to work any assigned shifts based on mission requirements. Shift assignments are not selectable.

Work Environment

The work schedule is 4 days a week and 10-hour days. There are two different shifts and prospective employees must be flexible and willing to work any assigned shifts based on mission requirements as shift assignments are not selectable.

  • Shift 1 – 6:00am to 4:30pm (inclusive of lunch break)

  • Shift 2 – 4pm to 2:30am (inclusive of lunch break)

  • A shift differential of 10% is applied to hours worked on shift 2.

  • Overtime hours and pay is to be expected in the first few months of employment.
